Es Migjorn Gran is one of the youngest municipalities in Menorca, established as an independent municipality in 1989 after splitting from Es Mercadal. Its history dates back to prehistoric times, with numerous archaeological sites evidencing ancient human occupation. The village developed around the Church of San Cristóbal, built in the 18th century, and was consolidated through agriculture and livestock farming. Es Migjorn Gran retains its traditional charm, with narrow streets and white houses reflecting the typical Menorcan architecture.
